York House and Lee House is a 34,000 SF student housing facility near the heart of Willamette’s campus. Built in the 1960’s, the building presented many barriers for those with mobility challenges. Its functions were spread out in a rambling maze of hallways and doors; its finishes were very dated and worn. CBTWO designed a series of additions as well as a complete remodel of the building’s common areas. The space was opened up inside and out to create visual connections and introduce natural light to activate spaces. The result is a fresh, contemporary space for students to engage with each other.
