The 47,000 SF facility is seeking a LEED Silver rating through the use of recycled materials, energy efficient mechanical systems, and the project's location on a former brownfield site.
The building's program elements are layered vertically. Form and materials are used to express this relationship on the exterior. Light colored brick, a generous canopy, and large openings make the retail spaces on the first floor inviting for the passer-by. The second and third floors house meeting spaces and classrooms. These floors are tied together through over-sized window frames and red brick. The fourth floor is mostly comprised of office space and is clad in metal siding. Also on the fourth floor, the prayer center overlook's downtown Salem with floor-to-ceiling glass. Seen from the exterior, the all wood ceiling gives a warm glow in the evening.
